Portfolio Review & Mentorship

I TEACH PHOTOGRAPHY TECHNIQUES AND OFFER PORTFOLIO REVIEWS based on my cliets’ goals and current skill levels. The areas for development can vary widely, but will usually include some elements of the following:

• Photography skills to capture a dream vacation, a significant event, or just start a rewarding new hobby

• Specialized training for writers or content providers who want to add photography as part of their services

• Reviews and guidance in assembling professional-level or informal personal portfolios, including teaching effective photo editing processes

• Training and guidance in putting together photography books, including goal and style setting, editing techniques, and self-publishing options, when desired

• Individuals and groups, beginners or pros – all are welcome!

Teaching philosophy

My teaching style goes beyond the technical aspects of photography. I enjoy helping people of all ages DEVELOP AN EYE FOR DESIGN, MOMENT, COLOR and PATTERN, ingredients that go into CREATING EXCEPTIONAL PHOTOS. I believe that what separates a great photograph from a mediocre one is not only its technical quality but also – and perhaps even more importantly – its emotional response within us. In my lessons and reviews, I guide students on how to bring it all together in their work. Depending on my clients’ experience level and goals, I help them either build on their existing skills or start from the very beginning. I’m all about a fun and supportive communication, with a dash of honesty – a combination I’ve found essential during my own photography and design studies.

How we work together

Our initial communication, whether by email or direct, is about determining your end goals. Lessons and reviews are tailored to achieve these goals and your current skill level. One-on-one sessions and follow-up assignment reviews are the most effective way to develop new skills and achieve visible results. They work well for people who enjoy setting project goals and deadlines, or who need additional incentives and guidance to complete projects. Experience my personal teaching approach at your convenience (even evenings and weekends, depending on availability). Meetings via phone or Zoom have been introduced as a convenient option for students from anywhere.

• In-person and Zoom/Phone sessions $65/hr
• $275 for 5 hours (recommended for best results)
• Field trips available
• Discount group rates available

About the Teacher

I have over 20 years of professional experience as a magazine and commercial photographer, creative director, and photo editor, working directly with publishers, writers, and art directors (full bio). I’ve fulfilled numerous magazine assignments around the globe and within the U.S., always focusing on the story outline. I’ve also worked directly with businesses on commercial projects and with individuals on personal projects. My work has been published in magazines, books, catalogs and companies’ websites. My clients have appreciated the real-world experience and passion for photography I bring to my lessons and reviews.

It’s time to take your photography to another level
